Jay and Mike started Cypress Aircraft because we are passionate about owning and operating legacy Citations. Our knowledge foundation as owners and pilots of these wonderful aircraft allows us to provide significant value to current and future operators. Whether you own a 500 series aircraft or want to own one, you will directly benefit from the personal, expert, and attentive value we add to the experience.
Our Story
We started out as pilots and became serial Citation owner/operators. This slowly evolved out of necessity into becoming expert pre-purchase evaluators, deal makers, maintenance experts and instructors. Along the way we grew into owning an inventory of flying aircraft while also stocking spare parts, parts planes and engines.
Meet the Team
Mike Tarver
Managing Director
ATP, CFI, CFII, MEI, Glider, SES, MES ATP, Commercial Rotor and Rotor Instrument, Airframe and Powerplant Certificate. Mike is typed in the Citation 500, Eclipse Jet and MU-2. He holds a single pilot waiver for all 500 series Citations. Mike loves airplanes and started flying models as a kid and the toys just got more expensive. Mike currently owns a Citation, a fully restored 1944 Grumman Widgeon, Baby Ace, Citation V co-owned with Jay, an Agusta 109 Helicopter co owned with Jay and R4455. Mike has owned multiple Beech Barons, a Bonanza, an Eclipse Jet, multiple Citations, and numerous experimentals including the Lancair IV-P, Harmon Rocket, Bucker Jungmann, Piel Emeraude, and Searey. Mike holds a Bachelors in Finance and a Masters in Accountancy from Wake Forest University along with a Doctorate from Tufts; all Summa Cum Laude. He also holds an inactive CPA license along with a Series 7/63.
Jay Curtis
Managing Director
ATP, SES, MES, Glider. Jay is typed in the Challenger, Gulfstream, Eclipse and Citation 500. Jay grew up flying models and ultralights and that evolved into ownership of multiple Eclipse Jets, A twin Cessna, a Seneca, Cirrus, Citations, Cessna 150, a North American T-6, a Christen Eagle, Pitts Special, and Boeing Stearman. Jay currently owns several Citations, a 1947 Grumman Widgeon, a Harmon Rocket, Icon, Pipistrel Taurus Glider, Champ, a Citation V. and an ultralight. Jay holds a Bachelors in Aerospace Engineering from Embry Riddle and an Masters of Business Administration from the University of Florida.
